The Man With the Plan

(The Globe)

I joined the Army yesterday.

Not that one. Not that I don’t respect the Green Machine, the original one, but my time for going to the field in anything other than a Holiday Inn Express is long past.

I have been puzzling about what to do- something I could do. There is only one political party at the moment, and they are so enamored with their ability to throw money in the air that they have lost focus.

They say that a fool with a plan can vanquish a genius without one. Imagine what a smart guy with a plan can accomplish with an army behind him.

I’m talking bout the remarkable Army of American icon T. Boone Pickens. He is the veteran of 81 summers on this planet, and tomorrow is the first anniversary of his campaign to end U.S. dependence on foreign oil.

He is the only one with an integrated plan out there, a voice of reason against the cacophony of Congress. I trust the crusty old bastard. He doesn’t have to be doing this. He has plenty of money of his own, and more of it than he has time.

The time to act is now. Do not be fooled with the electric car nonsense unless the juice is produced by clean-burning and abundant natural gas.  Charging our autos on the electric grid just is going to burn more coal, and “clean coal” is a myth that is not even going to get started until the politicians throw a few billion on the prototype clean power plant.

It is as stupid as growing corn to produce fuel- using oil for gasoline and fertilizer to do it. Mark these words, the cost of food is going to go sky high whether the planet warms or cools.

It is time to do something. Don’t listen to me fulminate about it. Do something.

It is really simple for a change. If you don’t feel and do the same thing I did yesterday, you don’t have a hair on your ass.
