Not Making Any of This Up

Life and Island Times August 6 2016 – Not Making Any of This Up

One of the two suspects in the case of the American Legion Post’s missing $50,000 along with his cronies at the Florida Department level of the American Legion suspended the current Post 28 commander and turned the operation of the Post and all of its accounts over to this suspect. The Department did this in writing.

Without access to these accounts, the Post would have had to close, since the only other person (your scribe Marlow) who could sign checks is off island.

Before the suspended commander could inform the banks of what was occurring, the suspect set about gaining access to Post checking accounts and cash. He removed your scribe and others who had signature authority. He even went as far as seizing an account which did not belong to the Post per se. When that bank was informed of the error, bank fraud alarm bells went off at that institution. The collateral damage to bank employee(s) is inestimable at this time.

A second institution refused to switch the accounts to the suspect’s control until they were officially notified with the proper documentation. The suspect then tried to inveigle the Post’s accountant to provide the required documentation. Thankfully, he declined.

Marlow couldn’t make stuff up like this even with the assistance of Timothy Leary grade LSD
