Swamp Postcard: Games Back in Town!
(Proud new crop of black-headed turkey buzzards in the barn, the birds contemplating doing something foul to my tractor).
So, we are all tired. That may account for a certain lethargy on the Congressional Committees, what with the transatlantic travel required to keep up up with the peripatetic 71-year old President Trump. In the last two weeks, he has jetted to Japan to meet the newest emperor in the 3,000 year history of the line of heirs that goes back to Jimmu Tennu.
Then to London and Normandy after a quick pit-stop in The Swamp, the poor talking heads having to flog themselves to stay up to make the evening news slots even if they were six hours ahead of the viewers. There were so many substitute anchors that I became quite disoriented.
Maybe things will get back to the superheated rhythm we have become used to here. Or not. The politics are amazing, you know?
Taken with the Mexican Trade talks that happened while Mr. Trump was in Europe, it was an energetic several days, some of it with actual success, not that anyone seems to care about how the country is doing.
I know how my country is doing. The two new turkey buzzards seem to be enjoying life immensely, and are apparently looking forward to pooping all over my tractor. The conflict- well reasoned and respectful, albeit punctuated by explosives- goes on, just as The Swamp does. Once we get caught up on sleep, I am confident things will be back to their vitriolic normal. Having a wonderful time, wish you were here. Considering a nap, though….
