Life & Island Times: Storm Season 2019
We’re now officially halfway through Storm Season 2019 in the Coastal Empire lowlands. It’s been a quiet one thus far, so the Weather Channel gnomes have been staying at home and biding their time. Dorian and his grey, wet and windy skies appeared on our 7 day predict horizon very early this week; and, man oh man, did the weather guessers from hell pounce upon him and us.
Saturday morning greeted us with the WC dweebs encamping themselves and their live location scare machine crapola down on Rover Street along the Savannah River. Almost made me want to rustle up some folks to streak their live remotes to the mother ship and the nation like some Conches of my acquaintance did down in Key West during Storm Season 2005 along Duval Street. Some alcohol was involved.
Not that this deterred us from celebrating our Savannah neighbor’s birthday and successful stem cell implant procedure Friday evening. We took him out to the Lone Wolf Lounge for lubrication, the Vault for pan-Asian fusion cuisine sustenance, an Irish bar for exceedingly hilarious drunk-assed karaoke by the patrons, and duck pin bowling. Yeah, you read that right — the folks behind MOODRIGHTS opened this past Monday a bar with a new, stubby 4-laner about seven short blocks from where we live. What an awesome, retro hotspot with dart boards and pool table.
We are already planning our bowling league team, sponsorship and shirts. Stay tuned to this station for more breaking news on this developing situation.
