A Brand New Year
Sorry- I had intended to leave the New Year to yesterday and on the Eve of 2021, relax with the fire in the background. I fully intended to have some happy thoughts about the end of this year and the start of another. Hopefully a better one. That is a pretty low bar.
Instead, there was more looney stuff, not dramatically different, and thus not worth another elaboration. There will be plenty of time for that, I hope. We will obviously have some excitement in the next week or so, and it is worth letting that play out without trepidation.
For now, anyway.
In some other year, there might have been plans to head into town, maybe to the Copper Fish and have a modest good time. Get cleaned up, sport a fresh shave and show off the home-devised haircut. Share a good time.
But sunset at the farm these days has a tendency to mark the start of evening shutdown. So, I am going to trust in tradition that the earth will continue to spin, and the sun will appear to rise again tomorrow, in the east.
If you are staying up, Bless you. And take our best wishes from this year into the fresh memories of another better one to come.
If you are not staying up, I will join you. Everything is going to be all right. I have that on the authority of a fortune cookie. There is only one Chinese Restaurant in town, but they are open and they deliver. It is a useful thing for this time of year. At least this one.
Happy New Year!
