Arrias: Cold Morning…My Muse
Author’s Note: Brilliant crescent moon, and Venus popping up – it was 14 here… And there really was a lone owl hooting away… Perhaps that was my Muse…which somehow led to thoughts of being very warm, in tropic climes…
– Arrias
My Dream
A brilliant crescent Moon, under a lapis sky,
Venus rising in the east, heart of winter is nigh.
A Lone Owl call in the dark mixes with the night’s chill,
But else than that, nothing – dark, completely still.
Frozen grass crunches under foot, snow has turned to ice,
Another storm approaches, our food and fuel suffice.
Frozen decking groans and sighs, shrinking in arctic air,
The dogs hurry back inside, each sinks into a chair.
Cup of tea, study the world, man’s lunacy on full display,
A litany of impending tragedy, must remember to pray.
That is as it ever was, and sadly ever it shall be,
No matter who’s in charge, we always march into folly.
But my thoughts are elsewhere, this cold winter morn,
Hundreds of leagues away, to warmer shores they are borne.
There my dream is sitting, staring out across the sea,
In my heart I know she’s waiting, and I know she thinks of me.
Some day I will meet her, in warm tropic airs,
We shall dance in the moonlight, an answer to my prayers.
But until then she sits, and looks out across the sea,
Staring at the sea and waiting, and I know she thinks of me.
