The early thunder prompted a glance at the growing gray light spilling in around the blinds. Only fifteen months to go! Plus, it is a medical morning, an appointment with the cardio Doc that had been an afternoon affair but rescheduled to middle morning to accommodate a surgical intervention not directly related to any of us.

So things are lurching early on this gray summer day. We exchanged weather notes in the Very Small Group for what will be happening in the Big Square State out West and the muddled brown waters of Tidewater just down to the South. The Weather Report this week you will find attached conveys the same muddled reaction to the 2024 Campaign that threatens to shamble forward for another fourteen or fifteen months.

These things seem to take longer than they used to. They are certainly more complex. There had been a general abandonment of direct interest in the day-by-day activity surrounding the line-up of which candidates were lining up for what office. There is another full year of months before the time we used to get interested, but times change in dramatic fashion. What we try to capture is the sense of the direction for the campaign breezes.

Summer is slow. We touched on some of the issues displayed on the attachment. There will be plenty more of them to come, wild rumors of Third Parties and all sorts of merriment as we install (or re-install) another Administration. It should be fun, and there is going to be plenty of it!
