It’s a Girl!

As faithful readers well know, we are careful here in the Writer’s Section to attune ourselves to the fickle winds of social change. It is a challenging world out there these days, and all participants must be protected. Accordingly, we ran this brief announcement through the Socotra House Legal Section to ensure our rigorous compliance standards are met.

They approved this note, or would have, had they not decided to take a quick nap to recover from the tsunami of excitement.

We have to be careful here. There are privacy issues that bubbled up yesterday, and we wish to protect one of the newer citizens who arrived across the hills and prairies. We did not blur the facial features in the attached image, and we hope there is no inadvertent disclosure of her identity. She will not be walking for a while, so we consider the development of her radiant beauty will be carefully controlled by the proud parents. Upon arrival, she was 8 pounds 14 ounces in weight and already unashamed to display her striking personality as you can see.

Early reports indicate good health and vibrant spirits from all participants, including the proud father.

The same could be said for the recipients of the news across the Continent. The miracle displayed by mother and child is one that inspires and humbles all of us. A look to the heavens above the Patio this bright morning revealed a crystalline purity in the brightening blue. The brilliance of the rising sun is reflected down from the sixth-floor windows of the West Tower of the building. The light signals energy and the start to a great adventure.

The smell of fresh brewed Chock Full O’ Nuts wafts briskly from the galley. There is life out there, vibrant and joyful and new. And an infant girl has arrived with a mission to capture our hearts.

She has succeeded in her first task in this new world. Welcome, lovely girl!
