Sky News is a Brit source with which we have had experience. They report that the Hezbollah has managed a drone attack on a navy base which lies south of Haifa. That caused a pause in conversation, since most of the targets mentioned in the news torrent are just names.
This is a place where we spent some time, so it has a twinge of memory and other times 80-clicks from the Lebanese border.
Sky says the target was the IDF Navy base at Atllit where we were anchored out on Forrestal, making a four-day visit. Normal schedule for a visit would normally require at least a duty day on the ship, a day or two ashore in whatever looked like a public house, and some phone calls back to the States.
This one was an opportunity to hire a car and armed driver and attempt to see the relevant parts of the New Testament in rushed but suitably reverent manner including an off-limits excursion to the West Bank.
But that is in the “Last Cold War Cruise” saga. Today’s news of storms and other skies has another perspective, doesn’t it?
