Porch Pirate

Porch Pirate

Hi! This is Kristina and I am not happy about Tuesday morning. This one, anyway.  Melissa promised she could get me a great opportunity to learn the ropes on the legal internship thing here at Socotra House. She used to do it, but DeMille, the boss, was told to do some local stuff for the Daily- something harmless and amusing- about the neighborhood as we try to deal with the crazy stuff crashing around on the east side of the River. So she is doing that now and I am hoping for a decent resume bullet

So, she told me to look at the Porch Pilot story in ArlNOW and do something about it. Then she left to go to Bob and Edith’s Diner for breakfast. I think she was meeting that guy-she met the other night at the Clarendon Ballroom and the Boomers are still groggy from their four days off.

So here is the local story: the Beaver Supermoon Moon was just sinking on The Patio when the group started to drag themselves over from the Bunkroom. The tablet on the table in front of Splash glowed with the words that “Abe Lincoln wrote a note with the address of a place in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on November 19th back in 1863.” He was dedicating a cemetery or something. We have a big one of those just up the street, so they told me to remind you.

That ought to do it, I thought, but it took like a half hour to figure out how the wifi works and how to load my tablet to the DropBox server they use to dump stuff into .

So, I did the title graphic with that and then what I thought was interesting. Which is the big mystery up the street on the other side of the Culpeper Gardens Geezer Depository Nice street. They just put in new speed bumps when they re-paved Pershing since it attracted more high-speed transit.

One of those drivers is a fairly well dressed guy from a racial group Legal says is still OK to make fun of. He drives a late-model Bimmer, a black one, meaning nothing by the paint scheme, and who apparently supplements his income by driving around looking for packages on the front steps of the little brick bungalow houses here in the Ballston neighborhood.

It is weird. The houses are almost antiques and much smaller than the one where I grew up out in Fairfax. Like my folks have. But these all have decimal points in the prices.

The guys tell me they haven’t had a problem but to stay alert, They normally have someone assigned to sleep on the porch, or a production meeting or whatever they call it. I know what it is. Hangovers being submerged in caffeine, but that is the way those guys roll. They are nice enough about it, so I am going with the flow.

This is my contribution for the first one:

“If you see a casually dressed guy, clean shaven, clean clothes with a fancy slouch hat, sun and a late model German car driving around, check your packages. He hit the place down the block twice in one week, so he might be coming to your neighborhood over in Falls Church or places west toward Seven Corners. “

That was easy, since I go out there when I need to get stuff from my folks house in Fairfax or just get a decent meal, but it is just on the edge of a scooter round-trip, so I have to watch it and avoid getting stuck by the Beltway where there could be trouble for people like me.

And the big stuff? They claim they are going to talk about tattooed Cabinet nominees and precision targeting by the Ukrainians against the Russians based on precise information provided by us to them which may mean the Russians are targeting the big five-sided building four minutes down Rt. 123 by my electric scooter.

If I remembered to charge it last night. It was busy. And now the Boomers are back. Sigh! I am going to tell Melissa a little more help might be appropriate for starters. Unless this is how it actually is, you know? I assume we will figure it out as we go along.-
