Arrias and His Muse: Accidents???

Accidents don’t just happen,
God isn’t to be blamed,
You made a bad decision,
No matter how it’s named.

No one told you to spend money,
That bills would come due is known,
And governments are no smarter,
Wars don’t start on their own.

Printing presses don’t print money,
Politicians ordered it done,
Everyone knew what would happen,
Long before it was even begun.

Take credit for something you didn’t do,
Blame the last guy for your mess,
And tell me it’s okay, even normal,
For men to walk around in a dress.

Up is down, left is right,
It’s okay to screw with kids genes,
Morals are paintings on cave walls,
The ends justifies the means.

Well, when everything goes sideways,
And when this all gets stuck in your throat,
When the chickens come home to roost,
Don’t make God your scapegoat.

But there was also the Tidewater Dawn:

Morning

Golden sunlight on tree tops,
In the air a fall-like chill,
Low pink-gray clouds breaking up,
Above an unseen bird trills…

A light breeze stirs the roses,
The dogs are sniffing about,
Squirrels leaping from branch to branch,
Looks like the hay needs to be cut.

A cardinal on the hummingbird feeder,
The tiny birds hovering nearby,
They wait for the intruder to depart,
Then buzz in to resupply.

The world frets at every report,
Politicians each issue a self-serving warning,
But here in this little corner of woods,
Another glorious morning.
