Arrias: The Rains

Author’s Note: Rains came through during the day, the dogs joined me in the office, I got down to give them belly rubs… things evolved from there…

Persian Carpets

On the floor next to Porter,
Huddled close, she keeps me warm,
Listening to the Brandenburg concertos,
Outside brews a winter storm.

What is it about Persian carpets?
The artistry is sublime,
And the puppies quite prefer them,
Whenever it’s nap time.

On this rug the dogs will huddle,
And against me they will lie,
And keep me warm during this tempest,
This nasty weather we will defy!

Porter’s furry body next to me,
Hear her breath go in and out,
She slowly rolls and paws me,
Then pokes me with her snout.

Rosey beside Porter
Already sound asleep,
Time for me also,
Close my eyes and count some sheep…
