Big Ag

We are not Big Ag down here, but we pride ourselves on being farm-to-table kind of people. This looks like a poor growing season, though the Russians have brought in the first honey of the year, and the chickens and turkeys seem enthusiastic in the morning.

That enthusiasm is not universal. The buzzards have moved back into the barn- nefariously, I should stipulate- and I am tempted to go down there and make some loud remonstrations with the 9mm and convince them to move along.

Not shoot them directly, of course, since that would be a violation of federal law (not that anyone seems to care about that anymore), but certainly we all like pyrotechnics (or at least I do) and the birds poop everywhere and like back in Washington, that should be discouraged.

Right?

Down here in the country, we have been washed with the freshets of late Spring that have boarded the Heartland with floods and tornadoes. Thankfully, we are at the top of the hill, and we stand little chance of flooding. Not so back in the heartland, where the corn has not been planted due to the flooding, and early frost will finish them off. We grow soybeans down in Culpeper, and with the the trade sanctions, they are hurting as well.

Not a good year for Big or Little Agriculture. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, with the Red States having provided a thin margin of victory in the last election..

I already did a Swamp Postcard this week, so will refrain from a critique on Monsieur Mueller’s somewhat bizarre press conference yesterday, or Attorney General Barr’s buttoned-down riposte that followed.

I think all of them are nuts, and this all is anticipation that there is more stuff to fall out of the sky in short order. Are you as tired of this as I am?

More later, I am afraid.
