Button It Up
This would have been a delightful morning to take an unbiased look at where we stand on the assorted issues 26 days out from the election. Button it up, you know? Be prepared!
The talk this morning started with the storm of course, since that is no metaphor. That led to some discussion about other matters still hanging open. Like the way CBS News edited the recent interview with one of the nominees for the Presidency on a long-established investigative news show. You remember when it was both news and a relation to what was actually happening before our eyes.
Now, it seems a little un-buttoned.
What was broadcast has been characterized as a little weak on new policy issues. What was actually said was broader in scope, verging on the same sort of embarrassing lack of depth that forced the previous candidate out of the race. Our support for an additional four years of it is un-buttoned.
We have been told to avoid saying the obvious in public, but they will permit us to approach it and wave in the general direction before we lurch on to the other excitement in progress.
Those are the ones that call out for a little immediate and resolute response. Not one two weeks ago while our focus was elsewhere. And not the one on the forecast to hit in three weeks. The one today.
That seems to be the period of the time in the messaging cycle to keep things buttoned. So let’s get to it, shall we? There have been some remarkable stories of volunteers mustering to provide assistance to the stricken areas and people.
A demonstration of commitment to help.
Our prayers are for all in the storm.
