Fifteen Minute County: The Light Astern
The week is already starting out with a roar, so DeMille told us to cool it a little bit on a Monday that is an actual First day of a new week in the last month. There had been some discussion about what pony to attempt to ride as the last new moon of this old year starts to rise, the days continue to get shorter but the turn of the corner are coming in just a few weeks.
Any more light will return to our days soon amid the pageantry to celebrate what Jim Champaign used to growl about from his corner at the Willow bar. “They aren’t longer or shorter you idiots. There is just more or less light in them.” Then he would bang the bottle of the brown glass bottle of Bud in front of him and we would launch on topics we could see.
The tide of change is down to our level this week. It is happening all over town in all the agencies. There are clusters of us in the District, of course, but also over on the East side of town in close-in Maryland and Delaware. And here in our fifteen-minute County in Arlington.
Kristina found a unit for sale here in Big Pink she was hot about. It is a two-bed unit which could be utilized to provide some segregated sleeping when that was appropriate for the creative section. It is cheap- about fifty grand less than the old Ironworker’s International Unit the Chairman scooped up when the last of the old Labor guys left for Florida. Another place would be useful during this time of transition to cover things like the local sweep of a government in change.
It is a little like that morning in 2008 when we realized we had all lost a hundred grand that week. Apiece. So, things get larger or smaller or brighter or darker on their own terms.
There was some talk about one of the jobs that will be open to someone not prominent enough (yet) to be in the news but could be will potentially have some impact on the various circles- like jobs in January. So interest is up for the Boomers and everyone else is pulsing to see what’s next with the bright lights and diminishing daylight.
We got a shot of the lights last night on the 8th floor across the Parking Lot. They are bright over the balcony and draped with a single strand along the modestly discolored concrete. Lack of sun up there this time of year. We are hoping that is going to start turning around in a few weeks.
The say there is a lot of different sort of light coming, which is why all three major Western religious groups have major events on the calendar.
We will try to keep track of the appointments.
This could be fun if we get a little more light! We are going to get the pardons and the lawfare stuff out of the way and move forward, right?
