Fifteen Minute County: Winter Weather Awareness Week

Fifteen Minute County: Winter Weather Awareness Week

Sorry this is a rush in what used to be morning but has failed in that. DeMille told us to get something out about the direct impact of the messaging in the new week just getting revved up for the three weeks to XMS after Turkey Day. There is a bunch of it and Splash was supposed to get something posted with a flashy graphic amid the natural confusion with national stuff affecting pals of pals and their visions and plus local stuff affecting all of us.

There is some real good spirit in the air, holiday and the hope some constructive stuff might happen, and not by sitting around bitching about it. Showing up in something more than a Zoom call and doing something.

So, the nominations at DoD and FBI are causing more noise and there is more in the direction affecting Melissa’s segment on the local real estate stuff happening across Four Mile Run but verges on Kristina’s territory since it is upstairs. Plus, there was a picture of her and the decorations she fashioned for the studio, the nice Spanish restaurant over in Clarendon and that strange wreck with the helicopter support activity over by the Air Force Memorial at the Navy Annex.

That is what brought Vic into it since he was here in the last big transition and wild fluctuation in uni prices and that afternoon after a couple mai tais on the patio by the pool that they had lost, collectively a hundred grand or so on the places they owned. That week.

So, this is nothing like that yet but was one of the topics we all care about since we spend varying parts of the day immersed in it. The place upstairs is well insulated but not totally, so there is a certain energy sharing possible. It is similar in size to the Socotra Suite, which had been adapted from the Ironworker’s International recreational suite that had started as a standard two-bedroom.

And why the discussion about one cabinet nomination and the downstream stuff lurched into the discussion about the building water supply and the fact that the scheduled interruption in service was going to be extended due to corrosion issues which require County intervention beyond close of business.

So, That involved a chat with Riannah at the desk to see what the place had first listed for while the election stuff was still building. She said it had been originally at $385K, and there had been a tenant change but the listing was just posted again, now down to $320K. We aren’t alarmed, or not exactly, since we are not carrying the note, but that shows the energy in the air.

The question about the building and the state of affairs is just another of those things. It is a big chuck of property with the potential for other use depending on what the County wants to do, privately owned, so a lot of communal projects like the pipes in the basement are coming due. Or not.

And there is the possibility that things are happening in the brisk December breeze that could require physical effort!
