FMC: Advance Teams
“Yike! The State Department Counter Foreign Information Manipulation & Interference Hub, or “R/FIMI,” is still open!” There was pandemonium near the Black Rifle Coffee urn in the Galley.
When a quick Saturday production blow-through in the Socotra House Conference Room starts like that it means more work instead of our professional preference.
The first question in a hasty Zoom-augmented session was about Creative Section leader DeMille and the strange texts we were getting from him after his abrupt departure from the HQ yesterday. There’s more to it.
Vapor said the Doctor told him something had to be done about whatever it is (Legal said HPPA protected data, but maybe releasable if we find out what constitutes Mal & Dis & Ordinary-information after 20 January).
And the medical thing has to be done in fairly short order.
So, he vanished. We’ll see whether that works. In the meantime, he claims that the inability to type due to the contraption that is supposed to help in preparation for one of those surgical adventures.
The absence of leadership here, like across the River, had left Vic and Splash to do a humorous approach to the land invasions of Panama and Denmark, or at least the part of it that goes to Greenland. There was talk about including Copenhagen, since there was general agreement that unrestricted access to the Ruby Bar in that old 1740’s townhouse downtown is about as cool as it gets.
But that is still under discussion.
Our favorite piece was about what the committed bureaucrats are doing here in the last ten days they have to decree things rejected in toto two months ago. Legal said we could talk about how nuts this as soon as we find out if they are going to try to drag people like us into court to face someone like Judge Merchan.
We won’t waste time with that. With luck, some of this legal nonsense is over. There was laughter about that since the most minor of the legal drama would have got us fired, or subject to worse if we were in uniform.
But that means we agree going to have to hear about all this does until the new Administration can be tamed.
except that it ought to spark more legal drama to punish people who sought to change the law itself into punishment.
So, we will see, and just publish that Vic wants to explain that the agreement to transfer authority of the Canal contained a clause inserted by Jimmy Carter that authorizes America to do something if the Canal we built was used against us. We wondered why no one had brought this up before what was clear and unambiguous became a big mystery.
We hope this is largely just messaging drama before legal power transfers, and of course that is in the week after this one. So. more fun to come!
We intend to observe with interest and the case of Monkey Shoulder Reserve from the Class Six Store at Fort Myer. We intend to observe this with interest!
