In the Middle of the Mayhem
Good heavens, there is a lot to talk about! Some of us are just back from an amazing road trip under cloudless clear Carolina blue sky. Friendly people. It looked like the America we knew- people freindly, lawns well kept in front of neat little homes and fine dining.
Not like the pile of stuff to deal with here, a veritable mayhem of partisan activity as School starts in the DC region and the Campaign starts to concentrate in volume, intensity and emotion. This morning? A couple hundred old GOP staffers announced their support to the harris campaign as RFK, Jr. is ready to join a trump cabinet along with Tulsi Gabbard. If there is another Trump Cabinet, of course. And that is another paroxysm in the Lawfare campaign, which features developments in the Jack Smith classified documents affair to go along with the 34 felony convictions on an expired misdemeanor book-keeping entry.
We could talk about all of them this morning, but there is more to get to. Like a restaurant review.
Former President Trump was here in Arlington yesterday and had us surrounded. We were digging out- some had dental appointments in adjacent Fall Church, others were sifting through the piles of material about who is doing what where and to whom. Vic is part of the Creative section, and was expounding that he had possibly seen the Beltway Snipers back in 2002 when they shot someone at the Home depot up Route 50 and fled back toward the Rive. He mentioned it because the former President left his appearance at the National Cemetery to drive west toward the dental office.
Not that he needed any dental work. Or doesn’t to our knowledge. The Arlington appearance was to commemorate the deaths of the 13 US personnel killed three years ago in the hasty and embarrassing withdrawal from Kabul. It was more about the election in 69 days, of course.
He then motored out stately Route 50 to Falls Church where he may have passed Splash on the dental thing. The former President stopped at Eden Place to go to a fancy new Vietnamese restaurant. He was accompanied by the GOP candidate for the Virginia Senate seat currently held by Democrat Tim Kaine. He is a man named Hung Coa, who started things as a young refugee on a boat that may have been one of the ones we rescued in the South China Sea.
He went on to become a Navy Captain, and thus (to a degree) we trust him and is the only candidate to whom we actually dug in the wallet and gave a few bucks.
Middle of things? You bet. We at Socotra House HQ in Big Pinkl are in the middle of the mayhem. We can even see it from the parking lot!
More on that as we get to it!
