Inflammation and Indictments

The entire northeastern coast of our continent continues to battle smoke plumes moving south from more than 400 fires burning nup in the hills and woods we used to ski in lovely Quebec Province. The Commenting Class claims there are more than four hundred fires raging, and the reaction across the continent has been severe. Big Pink’s pool is closed due to smoke danger, so we may take shelter and drink the afternoon away. New York’s current Governor has recommended getting a booster shot, demonstrating the Empire State’s commitment to Public Health.

It is a big deal- mass evacuations have been announced for Quebec Province. None so far for our Olde Dominion of Virgijnia, but Canadian officials warned that say this could be Canada’s worst wildfire season on record. Over 6.7 million acres are already scorched. We don’t completely understand what is gong on. In California, for example, the Macaroon Lady lost her lovely home to a fire prompted by haphazard maintenance. Re-building may be permitted soon soon. The Writer’s Section lost a house to flames a couple years ago, which onThe 2024 is not until the November after this one, which was a fairly unusual event. Now, not so much.

Which is basically what we felt when the indictment was announced just before bedtime last night. The full legal circus has been a matter of discussion for months now. Some kind of litigation has been in progress since the campaign for 2016 began a generation or two ago. It fits nicely with the cancellation of the Washington National’s game this afternoon here in your nation’s capital due to the brown clouds from the Canadian brush fires. It has been quite an adventure. They say many of the fires are human-caused, and thus a direct result of global climate change. Or something. At least they managed to also add to the tidal wave of lawfare activity now being waged. It appears motivated to tie a series of perfidious crimes to the former President.

This latest courtroom extravaganza apparently features boxes of formerly- or currently- classified material seized at Mar a Lago down in Florida. There was no word, or at least only some words, about other public figures and their boxes of classified materials. The problem with litigation is duration and timing. Better said, it is a feature of the process.

We think this one will be like the other indictments, timed to keep old malfeasance in the news for another seventeen months. At high volume. It could be entertaining, but we are sort of tired of doing this stuff over and over again. That is why burning it all down has a certain appeal, you know? We will ask the Prime Minisiter when he happens to have a moment!
