Just Released: Audiobook NILO Ha tien
Gentle Readers,
This special issue of The Daily does not mark a change in our editorial policy of restricting those irritating
ads and random screen clutter. It marks something else entirely. A new adventure!
As you may have noticed over the last couple decades, I have been fascinated by how the vast global
system works. Much of it has been, thankfully, about times of peace. I am fortunate though to have pals
who have lived through the most intense experience in life- combat.
Our pal Larry Serra is one of those remarkable men who found themselves at the focal point of
international policy and war. He is unique. His service was dictated by the terms imposed by the State. A
good Ivy League student, the machinations of the Draft in time of conflict caused him to join the Navy,
earn his warfare qualification on large gray ships, and then, due to language skills and abiding curiosity, at
the pivot point when the conflict in Vietnam lurched over into his world as a Naval Intelligence Liaison
Officer (NILO) on the Cambodian border in 1970.
The memories would not let him rest.
He wrote a fascinating novel about the experience, which is available on Amazon. It is a good read. But
now, in keeping with his abiding desire to try to explain the unexplainable, he has embarked on another
new adventure. This one is the conversion of words into the audio experience. It is highly recommended.
