Life & Island Times: CONgressional Boogie

Editor’s Note: Buckled down tight at the farm, being pummeled by the arctic blast from…Texas! We asked for dispensation, but that seems to be external to the situation. Was talking to some of the people huddled down by the Socotra Loading dock next to the barn to show compassion. Some of them think the Justice thing is great but not going far enough. They muttered that it was about time for Irish reparations, to be paid jointly by the Government and the Queen of England. According to the U.S. Census there are about 32 million of us, so I am inclined to agree it is time to get our share. As a responsible Irish-Socotran, though, I responded “No Irish need apply,” and slammed the rusty loading dock door on them. We may open it again when this stuff melts.

Author’s Note: Out of town, out of camera sight, and out of touch, our elected legislative leaders are back home doing the lil post-Valentine’s dance they do . . .

CONgressional Boogie

LIT021121

Off their rockers, actin’ crazy
Takin’ the right medication they won’t be lazy
Doin’ the old Congressional boogie
Down at the Capitol Hill farm
Wheelchairs, they was locked arm in arm
Paired off pacemakers with matchin’ alarms
Give them jus’ one more chance
To spin one more trillion-dollar yarn

And we know that they’re over the hill
When House minds make promises that the Senate body can’t fulfill
Doin’ the old Congressional boogie
And boogie they will
‘Cause to them the thought’s as good as a thrill

Back at their homes
No time is their own
Shuttering factories there, they’re all outta loans
Banks foreclosing, and voters’ bankruptcies show
Folks’ credit plummeting to an all-time low
So we know, that they’re over the hill
When House minds make promises that the Senate body can’t fulfill

They try and get a rise from atrophied brain muscles
And the nerves in their heads just quiver and fizzle
So we know, that they’re over the hill
When House minds make promises that the Senate body can’t fulfill
