Life & Island Times: Vietnam Vet Prayer
Author’s Note: WARNING: This may offend some; so, I apologize in advance.

Editor’s Note: This is another very strange week. The Turks are moving into Syria- and against the Kurds this morning, This look-back to other times suggests we might survive, but it will take courage.

Vietnam Vet Prayer
I’m unsure who authored this poem; but, according to my notes, Juda, a Vietnam vet who had spent some years in college, recited it one night to us assembled drunken children of god:
Our war fathers who play DC’s game
F*ck all y’all in Jesus’s name
Thy wars come
Thy killing be done
Vietnam unlike our fathers World War dread
You over-count this day, our enemy’s daily dead
And forget us, your war’s casualties
As we grieve our friends who died
And lead us not into BS ceasefires
And deliver us from commie liars
For yours are the big bucks,
The politicians, the makers of war trucks,
And the male chauvinist war pigs forever, Amen.
Several listeners shot our libations out of our noses in response. There were also some “F*cking A’s” from those who got this grunt worldview’s deeper meaning.
It was the most anti-war thing any of these warriors ever said in my presence.
