Postcard from the Swamp #19
Well, you can’t say this hasn’t been an interesting week in the fetid marsh along the Potomac we call the Capital of the Free World. Of course, we have been saying that for nearly a year now. After throwing mud on all things Russia and dark mutterings about alleged collusion, there are some strings that connect former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort with the Podesta Brothers consulting group- and John Podesta, former Clinton Campaign manager, and some shadowy Ukrainians.
It is all making my head hurt.
And the Uranium thing. How could anyone think that giving the Russians control of 20% of the nation’s supply of the radioactive supply be a good thing?
Or that an hour-long speech is worth $500,000 bucks?
That strange affair is now being investigated by both houses of Congress and Bob Mueller over at the Special Counsel’s office. It is enough to give even the most jaundiced among us the vapors. That and the constant Tweeting.
I think I know why Mr. Trump is doing it- it is always news, and a direct way to approach the American Public without the media getting between him and his target audience. But publicly brawling with two of his own party’s Senators seems a bit- well, counterproductive. If you actually wanted to get something through the Senate, anyway.
They say that progress in the equally murky negotiations- or non-negotiations- with the Norks is falling apart with three US aircraft carriers in WESTPAC and the USS Michigan (SSGN-727) with 154 Tomahawk missiles and a SEAL Team is lurking in the same waters.
I would say these are interesting times, wouldn’t you agree? And remember that is an ancient Chinese curse.
“Having a wonderful time, wish you here!”
