Selling Refuge

(Our Realtor Maggie used this shot taken by drone to demonstrate the sweep of the little Horse Property. We spent the lock-down days of the pandemic quietly, but we discovered where our original plan had some deficiencies. The “Aging Thing” had not been fully explored, and the actual experience made us realize the acreage was more than we could handle comfortably. We signed a contract yesterday, and the Refuge will transfer to someone else this summer).

So it was a fairly big day yesterday. We have arrived at a contract to sell Refuge Farm. There is a fair amount of sadness in the transaction, since we had a plan to accommodate the last portion of our existence on five lovely acres with nice neighbors. Whole house emergency power backup generator. New porch on the front deck. A delightful stockpile of necessary supplies and natural beauty!

The deal seems satisfactory. It is ratified before whatever next is coming in our turbulent summer season. We will keep you posted on progress, but on this pleasant summer morning, we think we have got our real holdings back down to something manageable. The Farm had been an answer to problems we saw in the 2008 Great Recession. Selling it now answers some other newer problems. That part of the adventure is still ahead, but for someone else. We understand they will be bringing horses to make the property come alive. We hope the Refuge is as good for them as it was for us!
