Socotra Daily: The Summer 2020 edition of MWSA’s Dispatches magazine
Socotra in Print
Gentle Readers,
I wrote a Socotra this morning, but went a little more hysterical than I chose to be these days. At least in public. If you care for that, it is posted at http://www.vicsocotra.com under the title “The Election.” I would rather highlight the good news that some crazy people have chosen to publish the first part of the second volume of Mac Shower’s stories of what it was like going from hot war with Japan to Cold War with the Soviet Union. It is fun, and he enjoyed not talking about the usual litany of WWII stories in which he played a part. The observations of a participant in the transformation of the War Department into the Defense Department is interesting, as are his accounts of what it was like in a Washington before there was a Beltway around it.
The promo for that is below, if you have an interest, and the complete “Hot and Cold Running Wars” is at the site at the Novellas tab.
Have a great day. There are big things in motion, and I will attempt to follow without emotional hyperbole to the degree I can.
In the meantime, enjoy life to the extent that the Experts allow us. There is another Point Loma coming tis week, and more on whatever is going on at the moment, though we all know it is about power. And the election.
– Vic
