Swamp Postcard: Double, Double

OK, I am on overload from the antics up north. Just to catch you up, the pot is bubbling and not to get on the Halloween thing too early, it seems full of toil and trouble. Speaker Pelosi, uplifted by her party’s mid-term election results, swept back into power. Her team had a bunch of plans, some of which we have seen paraded out over the last couple weeks. It is interesting, if you care for these sorts of political hijinks.

I do, of course, but that is a two-edged sword. I am tempted to describe it as what happened in the last Supreme Court nomination, but you already know the play-book. I am not going to even attempt the blow-by-blow. If you are following it, you know. If you are not, you are going to get smacked along with all the rest of us, so just relax.

Mrs. Clinton is out on a book tour with her daughter that looks a lot like preparations for another unsuccessful run for the White House. She is now on record as saying the gutsiest thing in her resume was staying with Bill through the various phases of his remarkable public life. This isn’t pundit bullswipe. I was- just marginally- an action officer and marginal senior officer in his administration. Trust me, it was interesting.

I think that is a marvelous qualification to be Commander-in-Chief, but considering we all were forced to stick with the Man From Hope, I am not sure that is a competitive advantage.

But oh well. We heard that Mr. Trump is pulling our remaining troops out of Syria. Forgive me if I have that weird sense of déjà vu. Didn’t we do this before? Didn’t it result in the ISIS explosion? I know, I know. Endless wars are bad. I know that, having served in the Occupation forces in Japan, Germany and Korea nearly forty years after the military surrender of the fascist forces.

And that was more than thirty years ago. Sigh.

The trees are telling me the season has embarked on the annual change. Looking out on the pastures in the first blush of morning, I can see that they are choosing to surrender to Fall’s entropy without benefit of glorious color. Probably a soil issue I should look at sometime.

True for a lot of things. Interesting time of year all around. Having a wonderful time. Wish you were here.
