Time for a Break

Life and Island Times August 7 2016 – Time for a Break

Marlow needed a break from the maddening events unfolding on his coral island. He turned his attention northward to the activities of his ward and younger brother at his new living facility in central Virginia.

He and his co-guardian Harvard had witnessed progress during the past five weeks that was beyond anything that they could have been envisioned five short months ago. While headway was being made with his physical health issues, it was the small things in their brother’s life that amazed them.

Traumatic brain injury patients like their brother are risk averse when encountering new situations. Their brother’s loss of use of three of his four limbs made his trust issues huge. They become abusive when they are pushed to try new things. Consequently, they self-isolate and become sedentary, exacerbating their mental and physical health problems.

They don’t know how the caregivers did it, but these pictures speak volumes
